April 1: Poetry feature at the Official Bay Area Launch of the book "Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets and Emcees" (LitNoire Publishing)! La Peņa Cultural Center, Berkeley, Time TBC. A cross-generational volume of poetry, featuring the work of 50 thought provoking and inspirational women writers, lyricists and spoken word artists from diverse cultures and backgrounds. This amazing collection includes poetry by some of the hottest women talents around. "Check the Rhyme is a lesson in remembering to breathe. April-May (dates and locations TBC): Staged Readings and Workshops of "Pagbabalik" ("Return") Work-in-Progress. Attend one of these exciting workshops with artists from this multi-disciplinary production. We'll perform excerpts of the play - from live music to poetry to theatre scenes to dance skits - and have open dialogues with members of various Bay Area Communities. Discussions may include topics such as Filipino History, cultural preservation, intergenerational dialogue in the Filipino community, art as activism, and more. Audience participation is strongly encouraged! Tentative locations: Bindlestiff Studios, Bayanihan Cultural Center, Las Positas Community College.
