MAY 2007

May 25-27 (times TBC): "Pagbabalik" ("Return") Work-in-Progress showings at Bindlestiff Studios. 505 Natoma Street @ 6th Street (between Howard and Mission), San Francisco. Witness new portions of the play as we gear up for the complete showing at La Peņa Cultural Center in June! Audience feedback and Q & A sessions comprise an important part of the evening. Discussions may include topics such as Filipino History, cultural preservation, intergenerational dialogue in the Filipino community, art as activism, and more.

May 31: LUNADA: Literary Lounge and Open Mic Featuring Aimee Suzara. Galeria de la Raza is excited to present one of the East Bay's most phenomenal poet-performers, Aimee Suzara! Each month, influenced by the power of Mother Moon, spoken word mystics, organic intellectuals and barrio griots share stories, music, food and spirits in a community ritual that goes far beyond your typical open-mic. Featuring the very best of the Bay Area's spoken word performers and DJs, Lunadas carve out a space for hope and strength during these increasingly desperate times. Thursday, May 31, 7:30 p.m., $5 or FREE with food dish, Galeria de la Raza, 2857 24th St., San Francisco, CA 94110, (415) 826-8009, galeriadelaraza.org.
